Tamarind أصناف
(Tamarindus indica)
Tamarind is an attractive, evergreen, nitrogen fixing tree, growing to 30 m in height, and best adapted to semi-arid conditions. The sweet-tart pulp from the pod is eaten fresh, used as an ingredient in cooking, or made into a refreshing drink. Tamarind wood is used for lumber, firewood, and high quality charcoal.
Tamarind
Sweet
These seeds come from a tree on ECHO's Florida campus that produce larger pods with sweeter flesh than regular sour tamarind. It is not known if this quality caries over (is true to type) subsequent generations or if is variable, but we want to share the genetics with you anyway. Let us know if you get trees that produce sweet fleshed pods.
