This book addresses the problems of poultry production under tropical and sub-tropical conditions.  Apart from the obvious climatic differences there exist chronic problems in obtaining adequate food supplies and at the same time lack of disease control may make intensive production unprofitable or even untenable.  This book attemps to address these problems and to see which of the concepts involved in modern poultry production can be adapted to the tropics and which should be avoided.  It approaches the problems both from the point of view of the large-scale producers and also the owners of the village scavenging flocks.  It concentrates mainly on laying hens and broilers but does not neglect other species, especially ducks, which are very important in some parts of the world.
