Session: CADS and its partners have adopted approaches such as Demonstration Platform for Agricultural Research and Technology and mainstreaming nutrition for amaranth production. To date, CADS expanded amaranth production to a total of 13 districts. Promotional activities such as product fairs, food festivals and cooking demos have further improved awareness, changed consumer perceptions and improved consumption of amaranth based products.
Biographical information: Lillian Machivenyika serves as the Executive Director for Cluster Agricultural Development Services (CADS.) Lillian’s expertise is on sustainable agriculture, business development and marketing. She has vast experience in providing strategic guidance and coordination of programs that enhances the adoption of indigenous knowledge systems and sustainable technologies for resource poor communities. Valeria Nkhungwa is a Nutritionist at Cluster Agricultural Development Services (CADS). She has experience in implementing nutrition and value addition programs promoting sustainable food and nutrition security for smallholder farmer communities.
