Speaker Bio: Dr. Aida Y. Pagtan is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Rural Development. She finished her Master’s Degree in Public Administration at Baguio Central University. She also received a Master’s degree in Social Work and Community Organization at the University of the Philippines. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Saint Louis University, Baguio City in 1989. She also studied Tropical Agriculture at Larenstein University of Professional Education, Deventer, The Netherlands in 2002. From July of 2009 up to present, Dr. Pagtan is the ‘Social Mobilization and Participatory Investment Planning and Gender Coordinator’ at Second Cordillera Highland Agricultural Resources Management Project (CHARM2) under the Department of Agriculture, Philippines. She is also a volunteer worker and trainer of several organizations such as the Cordillera Green Network, and Socio-economic and Gender Advocacy Inc.
Abstract: In every organization, both non-governmental and local government, there are needs to have background and knowledge related to community organization. This presentation will discuss methods of how to know and assess people’s capabilities in order to find ways to make their socio-economic lives better. During this workshop, participants will learn some basic know-how in organizing communities. Different group activities will be presented.
