A New Perspective on Water Flow from Soil to Seed: The Role of Vapor
Stewart Wuest
The flux of vapor from soil to seed has been greatly underestimated and probably contributes most of the water imbibed by seed in soils below field capacity. Vapor may also play a greater role than previously thought in root water uptake, wetting fronts, and other cases of water movement in mixed solid-liquid-gas media.
