Field-surveying for Land and Water Management
Natasha van Dijk, et al
This booklet aims to give insight into the subject matter so that you will be able to apply the methods described when carrying out small-scale measures. These measures include: staking out and digging a canal, staking out and construction a terrace, and levelling a field. Small-scale measures are measures that can be applied, managed and maintained by farmers themselves, during and after construction.
In the first and largest part of the booklet, surveying will be discussed. This chapter will introduce technical terms, methods and techniques that are used in surveying. The possibilities and limitations of each will be discussed. Readers of the booklet can get an idea of all the possibilities, making it easier to select the most suitable method. In chapters 4, 5 and 6 the main principles of field-surveying will be demonstrated using three examples of consturction works.
