Fertiliser risks in the developing countries: a review

In this article we examine the health hazards posed by nitrogen fertiliser use in developing countries and particularly three serious human disease, methaemoglobinaemia, gastric and bladder cancer. We then discuss the losses of nitrogen from fertilisers to water and the atmosphere and the environmental consequences.
