International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe)

Each year icipe holds many training courses, workshops and other training events for research students and scientists, research and development collaborators, farmers and extension workers, and other stakeholders.

Training covers a range of research and development activities, spanning the continuum from basic strategic research to technology development and validation, and ultimately community-based adoption of new technologies:

  1. Research skills training for African scientists including postgraduate students and early-career postdoctoral scientists, e.g. biostatistics, GIS, bioinformatics, gender responsiveness in research, science paper writing, proposal writing, science communications.
  2. Training of individuals in national systems, e.g. veterinary services across Africa involved in the monitoring of bee health.
  3. Training of farmers, community and extension workers on the adoption of sustainable arthropod management technologies for improved livelihoods in Africa, e.g. Fruit fly integrated pest management, and Push-Pull technology to control of stem borer and striga in maize.
