Handbook of Staff Development and Human Relations Training: Materials Developed for Use in Africa
Donald Nylen, J. Robert Mitchell, Anthony Stout.
Staff Development and Human Relations Training has two interrelated aspects. One is in the direction of group improvement. The other is in the direction of individual member growth. Training, for instance, seeks to further conditions which will strengthen an organization (staff) so that it functions smoothly, efficiently, and productively. Training seeks at the same time to stimulate both efficiently, and productively. Training seeks at the same time to stimulate both increased sensitivity to self and to other persons and more consciously guided behavior, with the purpose of improving individual performance. Staff Development and Human Relations Training is thus concerned with both group and individual phenomena and with the complex interrelated forces which affect the relationships between and among people in their activities.
