This book is broken into four chapters: 1. an outline history of vitamin A deficiency disorders and of the discovery of the vitamin, gives an account of the main events, 2. a personal odyssey, forms the main part of the book. It includes the author's experiences when he was living and working in many countries while on the trail of VADD, 3. consists of an update and commentary, 4. is called looking to the future. It seems appropriate that in a book that looks towards the conquest of a health problem, like VADD, there should be a place for a final section that takes a look into the future and tries to point out some lessons that need to be learned from past experience.
