Session: World Renew began promoting amaranth as a drought resistant, nutritious crop in 1999. It has been adopted by farmers in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, but has found highest adoption in Western Kenya. There it has had both a nutritional and commercial impact.
Presenter : Thomas Post is an agronomist and team leader for World Renew in Asia, Previously he worked in Mexico, Central American and E. Africa. Peter Moody is the director of Anglican Development Services of W. Kenya and was one of the early adopters and developers of grain amaranth in E. Africa. His PhD research is in Sustainable Development and did a Masters in Community Development.
