This book is the result of two workshops, one held in Honduras and another held in Ecuador, that were undertaken to describe and analyse the personal experiences of farmer promoters who provide extension services for community development, a methodology known as 'farmer-to-farmer extension'. The book addresses important aspects related to the design, organization, implementation, and coordination of projects led by farmer promoters. Chapters 2-4 describe what the farmer promoters think of themselves, and the what and how of their work. Chapters 5-13 are more analytical, focusing on the factors that the promoters themselves consider most important. Chapters 14-18 present five case studies showing how farmer-to-farmer extension has been used in Mexico, Nicaragua and Ecuador.
