The ideas contained in this booklet are neither new nor are they complex.  Anthropologists have been talking about culturally appropriate approaches to community development for at least 30 years.  Missiologists have discussed culturally appropriate evangelism--if not discipleship--for at least as long.  The major difference in the approach of Mission:  Moving Mountains is the integration of development and discipleship as two parts of one whole.  The processes are virtually identical in terms of methodology.  It is our hope that the following pages will encourage others to continue (or begin) to apply these principles of discipleship and development with the aim of promoting healing in individuals and communities and extending the Kingdom of God in our world.
