Tropical lettuce is a fast-growing, self-seeding upright annual that will reach 2m in height and is very productive. Young leaves can be eaten raw but can be bitter. Older leaves are usually steamed or boiled and served with vinegar. Tropical lettuce tolerates a variety of climates but thrives best under warm, moist conditions.
