Sesame is an erect, herbaceous, annual, broad-leaved plant, growing to 2.5 m in height. It is one of the oldest cultivated crops and mainly grown as a field crop for the seeds and especially oil extracted from the seeds.

A variety that has light colored seeds.
Lao
Small white seed and small fruit. Caution required when harvesting, as pod tends to split open and release seeds.
Kasetsart
Produces big pods with white seeds. It is tolerant to disease and the pods do not split before harvest.
AVRDC Black
Taller fruit and darker green pod than Lao variety with high yield. Black seed.
