Experiments using urine and humus derived from ecological toilets as a source of nutrients for growing crops
Peter Morgan
The Arborloo method differs somewhat from the more traditional method of planting trees in old abandoned deeper pit latrines. With the Arborloo, both soil and wood ash are regularly added to the pit contents during the years of use. These additional ingredients hasten the production of humus and prepare a "pit soil" which is very suitable for tree growth and more so that composted raw excreta alone.
