Session: Honeyguide is in the business of conservation, central to our approach is the idea that community conservation areas can succeed when run as social enterprises, meaning they are environmentally, financially, and socially sustainable. Pastoral communities in northern Tanzania have established wildlife management areas, where communities protect the natural resources and in return, derive benefits that include secured dry season grazing areas. In creating conservation-based local enterprises with stakeholder buy-in, we aim to move people and wildlife from a state of coexistence to interdependence, thereby incentivizing the protection of their shared natural spaces.
