This presentation introduces the concept of livestock in agroforestry systems. When livestock is combined with treees, it is referred to as a silvopastoral system. Many such systems exist, such as traditional pasotoralist and extensive, as well as intensive agropastoral systems. The presentation highlights how livestock benefits from the tree component in such systems. When livestock is integrated with trees and crops, the system is referred to as agricilvopastral as in the case of cattle grazing in plantations. The most intensive agroforesty system is fodder production, either in fodder banks or on contours in sloping land area. The presentation further highlights the role of trees in animal health and discusses some environmental issues related to agroforestry and lovestocvk production.
