Proso millet is an erect, tillering, annual grass, growing to 1 m in height, that is grown for the small seeds used for human consumption and livestock food. Proso millet was one of the earliest cultivated grains in the world. It is fairly drought tolerant and has a short growing season.
White
A generic white-seeded variety that is preferred over dark-seeded cultivars for both birdseed and human consumption.
Dove
Released in 1972 by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) mainly as feed for dove and quail. It matures in 65 to 75 days and has excellent growth and seed production.
