Insecticide treated mosquito nets are a part of many malaria control programmes in sub-Saharan Africa.  Their method of operation and their benefits are described in the first article in this Directory.  This Directory was designed as a tool to help managers of primary health care and malaria control programmes obtain the essential materials - mosquito nets, bulk netting, and insecticides - required for effective insecticide treated net interventions.  This Directory does not attempt to provide authoritative technical guidelines on the use of treated nets, nor on the design of net interventions.
