Cedicam's work supports the subsistence agriculture farmer population, reducing migration, promoting food security, food sovereignty and sustainable farming practices. In 2002, four communities working with Cedicam received an honorable mention from the Mexican Federal Government for their restoration of eroded land. In 2008, Cedicam received the Goldman Environmental Prize for environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture work in the Mixteca. The Goldman Environmental Prize is the world’s largest prize honoring grassroots environmentalists.
