PARM’s capacity development (CD) activities aim to improve stakeholders’ knowledge on agricultural risk and increase their management capacities to address all types of risks. This training Handbook is a reference document for participant trainees of Agricultural Risk Management (ARM) courses. It focuses on the definition of risk, different sources and types of risk, methods of risk assessment according to severity and probability of risk, holistic approach to risk, levels of responsibility, and an overview of risk management tools, strategies and M&E activities.
The Handbook was developed to support PARM’s CD1 activity, which is a 2-day seminar aim at raising awareness and providing basic knowledge on ARM since 2014. CD1 targets mostly farmers and government officers. The overall material can be used for similar pieces of training at the country level, delivered for example by extension workers or practitioners in the field of agriculture.
