Cattley guava is a small evergreen tree growing up to 10 m in height with smooth, thin flaking bark. The small fruit is red or yellow and up to 4 cm in diameter. The fruits are eaten fresh or used for jam, and the plant is sometimes used as an ornamental. This species can become invasive if not properly maintained.
