Jackfruit Rassen
(Artocarpus heterophyllus)
Jackfruit is famous for producing the world's largest tree-borne fruit. Fruits typically weigh between 4.5 to 20 kgs, but have been reported up to 50 kilograms. The trees can grow to 21 m in height. A large portion of the fruit is edible with high nutritional value, fruits can be eaten green as a vegetable and the seeds are edible.

NS-1
These seeds are collected from an NS-1 seedling tree on ECHO's campus in Southwest Florida, USA. Jackfruit seeds do not come true to type through seed but this seedling tree produces excellent crunchy fruit, so we offer these seeds both as rootstock and scion (if the seeds end up producing trees with good fruit) options. Jackfruit is normally grafted in order to produce fruit specific to a cultivar.
Jackfruit seeds are recalcitrant (short-lived) and we have the seeds available at limited times throughout the year, usually July-September. The seeds should be planted right away once you receive the seeds as they will die if they dry out, or they may get moldy if left in the package too long.
