Gender Impacts of Small-Farm Commercialization (SFC) on Household Resource Management and Livelihoods
This study identifies and examines small farm commercialization activities and pathways in the forest and transitional zones of Ghana, drawing on some experiences from the savannah zone as well. The effects of small farm commercialization on gender roles and relationships, as well as on intrahousehold incomes and other liveihood indicators, are examined. The constraints on adoption of commercialization activities were identified, and some lessons drawn on enhancing smallholder capability to take advantage of the opportunities and benefits of small farm commercialization in order to cope with a fast-globalizing world economy.
