Scientist and Farmer: Partners in Research for the 21st Century

In this volume, reports from three regional or global partnerships are featured: Consortium for the Sustainable Development of Natural Resources in the Andes, Global Initiative on Late Blight, and Strategic Initiative on Urban and Periurban Agriculture. Each partnership reflects the direct involvement of a large constituency of global or regional partners from all research sectors-public, private, NGO, communities, farmers--all working toward mutually agreed upon objectives.
Included in the book, are research reports ranging from the application of highly complex molecular technologies to identify plant defense genes for late blight resistance, to the development and evaluation of more efficient pig feed from sweet potatoes.
