This session aims at discussing simple and yet effective agronomic practices for most vegetable crops that discourage the buildup of plant - parasitic nematodes and other soil borne pathogens in the soil. These agronomic practices range from timely watering or irrigation of crops, use of resistant or tolerant varieties, crop rotation, tillage practices, mulching, use of organic amendments, proper and timely methods of harvesting.

Dr. Ben Dube
Dr. Dube is a Professor of Biology at Eastern University and an alumni from University of Florida, Dept of Entomology and Nematology. Apart from teaching general biology courses (Ecology, Parasitology and Entomology) Ben also conducts research in agricultural nematology. His main focus is on an integrated plant parasitic nematode control strategy on vegetable crops, especially
suited to low technology developing countries.
