CropBase Crop Selection Tool

CropBase is a Crops For the Future website with a number of decision-making tools. Here we draw special attention to the Crop Selection Tool, designed to provide location-specific crop options and estimated yields. The tool draws on available information for 220 crops to display potential crop options best suited to the soil and climate of any location you select. 

From the home page, click on the “SELECTCROP” option. On the resulting page, click the “Select Your Location” button which will allow you to enter a location with the use of a map tool. Once you’ve specified a location, click “Search This Location” to view crop options for that location. On the resulting webpage, you can then specify parameters, such as crop type and growth cycle (e.g., annual, perennial), and sort by various criteria including suitability to the location, yield, carbohydrate content, and protein content.
