Chipilin Giống
(Crotolaria longirostrata)
A popular leafy green in Guatemala and other Central American countries. The small green leaves are tasty and delicious. Chipilin is also a legume and can be used as a green manure cover crop to improve the soil. It is daylength sensitive and will only flower when the days get shorter. Seeds can be collected from small dark brown pods that rattle when the seeds are dry and ready to harvest. It can also be grown as a semi-perennial and becomes woody and shrub-like.
