The purpose of this workshop was to promote irrigated agriculture through the introduction of improved water lifting techniques and water use practices. More specifically, it was intended to provide participants with an opportunity to observe and study water lifting devices and water management practices actually being employed in China. Emphasis was place on studying the design, construction and operation of water lifting devices being used in China using renewable energy resources.
