Myanmar Seed Saving Workshop

ECHO Asia, in conjunction with the PMA CSSDD (Pathein Myaungmya Sgaw Karen Baptist Association- Christian Social Services Development Division), with funding from the Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP-USA) and the Agroecology Learning Alliance in SE Asia (ALiSEA), welcomes anyone working in agriculture and community development to attend a sponsored seed saving workshop from January 17 - 18, 2018 at Pathein, in the Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar.

This free, two-day event will include hands-on training on seed saving best practices (at NGO and community levels), vegetable grafting, utilization of neglected and underutilized species (NUS), how to conduct a seed exchange, and many more topics! Training will be conducted in English and Burmese.

Our local partner, Thamla Htoo (Ph: +95 (0)9451230030), speaks Burmese, Karen, and English and works for the CSSDD of the PMA. Please contact him or echoasia@echonet.org with any questions.

Time

The training starts on Wednesday morning, January 17, with registration at 8AM. The last session will be finished on Thurs, January 18, at 4:30PM

 

Location

The actual training will occur at the Kaheelu Holistic Training Center 1/2 hour outside of Pathein, Myanmar

 
Pickup:
We will ride together to the Kaheelu Center and return together each night. Meet at 7:00 AM both days at the Ko Tha Byu Theological Seminary of the Pathein Myaugmya Sgaw Karen Baptist Association (16°47'26.5"N 94°44'23.0"E; #53 Yodayar Gone road, Yodayar Gone, Pathein) for shared transportation out to the Center
