This manual or primer is a methodological tool by which we can facilitate collective action to permit the adequate management of natural resources within a given area. The manual is directed at extension workers and researchers who work with farmers and other users of a region's natural resources. The objective is to improve the users' management of those resources, not only on their farms, or in a particular sector of their forests, or certain sources of water, but also as a totality of the landscape or microwatershed in which they live.
