The aim of this report is to provide information about biomass that is of interest for forest and energy planners. It will mainly deal with present and potential end uses of different kinds of biomass, and with methods to estimate biomass qunatities. It will also discuss the effects of different restrictions on an increased utilization of biomass, and finally some areas are identified where the current knowledge is not sufficient and further studies are needed.
