Biodigestores y biogás
La "digestión anaeróbica, o biodigestión, implica la degradación microbiana de materiales orgánicos en un ambiente libre de oxígeno. Las materias primas para la digestión anaeróbica incluyen estiércol de ganado, residuos de cultivos, frutas y verduras desechadas, desperdicios de alimentos y otros subproductos orgánicos. El proceso genera energía renovable en forma de biogás (que principalmente es metano) y un digestato rico en nutrientes que se puede utilizar como biofertilizante en lugar de fertilizantes comerciales."
